Who is responsible for this site

This policy covers China Guidelines at https://chinaguidelines.com. The website is operated by Richie Shi as an individual.

The site is mainly operated from mainland China, where site analytics are viewed and contact emails are handled. Contact the operator at [email protected] about this policy or your information.

Information and purposes

Traffic analytics: we use Google Analytics to understand how readers find and use the guides and to improve the site. Analytics can involve page URLs, interactions, approximate location, device and browser information, and identifiers. Google signals and user-provided data collection are not enabled. No product links are configured for the Analytics property, including Google Ads or BigQuery links.

Website delivery and security: Cloudflare delivers the site and helps protect it. Requests can involve an IP address, requested URL, request time, and technical request details. The site also loads Cloudflare Insights for website performance measurement.

Correspondence: if you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you send. We use this information to respond to inquiries, review corrections, and handle privacy or cooperation requests.

The site has no visitor accounts, checkout, newsletter signup, comments, or contact form. Guide search and calendar and age calculations run in your browser without submitting your inputs to a site-owned endpoint. General analytics and technical website requests can still occur while you use these features.

Regional privacy choices: a small site endpoint uses Cloudflare’s request-country information to decide whether to show the analytics prompt. It returns only a country code, not your IP address or precise location. Our application does not store individual lookup logs. A successful result may be kept in this browser’s session storage for up to 30 minutes.

Cookies and browser storage

Google Analytics can use _ga and cookies whose names begin with _ga_ to distinguish visits and measure activity when analytics storage is allowed. For visitors resolved to the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we ask before allowing those cookies. If the region cannot be determined, we also ask. Other visitors are not automatically prompted and analytics cookies are allowed unless they choose otherwise. You can change your choice through Privacy settings in the footer. See Google’s explanation of Analytics cookie usage.

We use Google’s advanced consent mode. Before a required choice, and after refusal, analytics storage remains denied, but Google can still receive cookieless measurements. Refusing cookies does not stop every Google request. A necessary cookie named cc_cookie remembers an explicit choice for about six months; it is separate from the optional analytics cookies. Without usable browser storage, a choice applies only to the current page.

The theme control stores your preference in localStorage under the key theme. This preference stays in your browser until you change it or clear the site data. It is browser storage rather than a cookie sent with every website request.

Service providers and international processing

Google processes analytics information through Google Analytics. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Cloudflare Pages hosts the website. Cloudflare also handles delivery, security, and website performance measurement. Messages sent to [email protected] pass through Cloudflare Email Routing and are forwarded to Gmail, so both Cloudflare and Google handle information in the email route.

The operator handles analytics reports and correspondence in mainland China. Cloudflare and Google operate internationally, so information may also be processed in countries different from the country you visit from. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy for their respective information-handling, international transfer, and protection practices.

How long information is kept

Analytics: event-data retention is set to 2 months and user-data retention to 14 months. Reset on new user activity is enabled, so new activity renews the retention period for that user’s identifier. These settings do not determine how long standard aggregated reports are kept.

Website delivery and security: we do not separately retain individual website access logs. Cloudflare may retain its own service records under its published retention practices, which take into account service purposes, security, and legal requirements.

Email correspondence: we currently keep inquiry emails and attachments indefinitely, without a fixed deletion date. You can send requests about this information to [email protected]. Clearing cookies in your browser does not delete information already held by a provider or in the site inbox.

Security

The public site uses HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission can guarantee complete security. Please limit inquiry emails to what is needed to explain the issue and do not include passwords, identity documents, or bank card details.

If you think an inquiry has exposed sensitive information, contact [email protected] with a description of the issue rather than sending the sensitive material again.

Your choices and requests

Open Privacy settings in the footer to accept, reject, or change analytics storage, in any region. A saved refusal is respected even in a region without an automatic prompt. Withdrawing acceptance switches analytics storage off and removes the Google Analytics cookies we can control. Cookieless measurements may continue, and withdrawal does not delete information already sent to Google. You can also inspect, block, or clear cookies and site storage using your browser; clearing preferences can cause the prompt to appear again.

Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your information, or to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Email [email protected] describing your request and the information concerned. We may need further details to handle it and will explain any applicable limits. Do not send identity documents with your initial request.

Where applicable, you can also raise a concern with the data protection authority responsible for your complaint.

Changes and planned advertising

The site does not currently display advertising. If advertising is introduced, we will update this policy before activation to describe the providers, cookies, personalization, and available choices. There is currently no advertising privacy-settings control on the site.

Changes to our practices will be reflected on this page. The dates above identify when this version takes effect and was last updated. Contact [email protected] with questions about this policy.
