Compared to taxis or public transport, using Didi for airport transfers has a few clear advantages:

  1. Transparent pricing: You'll see the estimated fare before confirming — no surprises, no detours.
  2. Safety: Your driver's info, license plate, and route are all visible in the app. You can also share your trip or trigger an emergency alert if needed.
  3. Convenience: No queuing or transfers. Pick the right vehicle type for your luggage and go straight to your destination.

Getting a Didi FROM the Airport

In China, airports designate specific ride-hailing pickup zones to manage traffic flow. These zones make it easy for both you and your driver to meet in one place — no guessing, no circling. Didi Chuxing airport service is designed with this in mind, guiding you through the entire pickup process from inside the app.

How to Find the Pickup Zone

This is usually the trickiest part for first-time visitors — but the Didi app airport pickup instructions take care of it for you:

  1. In the Didi app, search for your airport in the pickup field. Didi will ask you to select your arrival terminal.
  2. Once you select the terminal, the Didi app automatically sets the correct airport pickup zone as your starting point.
  3. The Didi app also provides step-by-step photos showing how to walk from the terminal to the pickup zone — so you'll know exactly where to go.

Waiting for Your Ride

While you wait, the app shows your driver's real-time location, vehicle type, and license plate. You can also chat with your driver directly in the app — messages are translated instantly on both sides, so the language barrier isn't an issue.

Once your driver arrives, they'll ask for the last 4 digits of the phone number you used to register Didi — this is how they confirm they've picked up the right passenger. If there's a language barrier, just type the digits on your phone and show it to them.

Pickup Zones at Major Chinese Airports

Below are two of China's busiest airports, with a quick overview of where to go after landing. Both Apple Maps and Amap (高德地图) offer indoor maps for major airports, which can help you navigate inside the terminal.

That said, once you land, the Didi app is your best guide — it will walk you through the entire process with photos and directions.

Terminal 2 (T2)

T2 has 7 floors, from F3 ~ B4 (F1 = ground level, B1 = first basement).

After exiting at F1, cross the road to Parking Building P2. The ride-hailing pickup zone is on F1 of P2.

Taking a Didi TO the Airport

Compared to airport pickups, heading to the airport is straightforward. Simply set your departure terminal as the destination in Didi, and the rest works just like a normal ride.

The same tips for waiting and boarding apply here — they're covered in the section above.

One thing to keep in mind: select the correct terminal when entering your destination. If you're unsure, check your airline booking confirmation.

FAQ

How long does it usually take to get picked up?

In most cases, from booking to boarding takes around 10 minutes. During peak hours or busy travel periods, it may take a bit longer.

Can I pay with cash?

Only traditional taxis on Didi support cash payments. However, cash isn't recommended — Didi's platform protections don't fully apply to cash rides, and most drivers won't have change. Setting up online payment makes the whole experience much smoother.

How much does a Didi airport ride cost?

Taking Beijing as an example, a Didi airport pickup from the city typically costs between ¥80–200, depending on your destination and vehicle type. Didi shows an estimated fare before you confirm the booking. For detailed city-by-city pricing, see: How to Use Didi in China 2026 as a Foreigner – Full English Guide

What if my driver doesn't speak English?

No problem — Didi's in-app chat translates messages in real time between you and your driver. Just type normally, and your driver will see it in Chinese.

Can I book in advance?

Yes — Didi supports scheduled rides within 4 days. When booking, simply select your preferred date and time. That said, we recommend placing the order once you've exited the terminal, since unexpected delays (baggage, customs) can affect your timing. Scheduling a Ride in Didi
